My Top 10 favorite anime of all time

I began watching anime at a pretty young age when my dad showed me Dragonball Z on Toonami when I was 6. Ever since then it has helped shaped me into the nerd that I am today so this list will be counting down my 10 favorite anime of all time. This list is in no particular order, its mainly just a list of shows that I've seen and that have really stuck out to me.

#10  Guilty Crown

This show is probably the first show to ever make me cry (well not actually cry but dang it I was about to). I watched this back in 2015 and I haven't really re watched it ever since but it's still etched into my memory. There were plenty of moments that made me want to throw my laptop across my room in sheer anger but none the less I really enjoyed this show .

#9  My Hero Academia

Now before you get upset in the comments section, this list is not in any particular order. My Hero Academia is currently my favorite anime this season what with season three currently in its second half. I started this show last year and I couldn't get enough of it. I recently got caught up with the manga before the anime got any further and I gotta tell you, it gets real good. I love everything about this show from its characters, music, and fights, to its comedy, setting, designs, and art style. The show definitely feels like a love letter to both Shonen anime of the past, specifically the big three ( Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach) and also to western comic book heroes like Superman and Spider-man. The more I watch this show, the more I begin to think, if I was in MHA what would my quirk be. In other words this show is amazing and has not disappointed me and I doubt it will.

#8  Pokemon: Advanced Battle

When most people talk about watching or playing Pokemon as a kid, they always talk about Gen 1 and the Kanto region but I have always been a Hoenn fan. For some reason this season of the Pokemon anime really stuck out to me and I still remember the opening to this day. My favorite Pokemon game is emerald (second being Diamond) and I remember picking that treecko even though all my friends said go with mudkip. But anyway this season is my favorite and will hold a special place in my heart for years to come.

#7 Golden Boy

This show is hilarious. It came out back in the 90's so the English dub is not too great but that's what makes the show so much better. The over the top voice acting of the main character Kintaro is just amazing and I can't get enough of it. The whole show is just about Kintaro biking throughout Japan trying to learn as much as he can but this is also a 90's anime so he's also a total perv and there is a crap ton of fan service. The fan service doesn't really get in the way of the plot since most of the episodes revolve around Kintaro drooling over the hot chick of the episode. Not to mention almost all the episodes revolve around Kintaro working at some new place, drooling over a hot chick, supposedly ruins everything but instead makes everything better, hot chick falls in love with him, Kintaro leaves before she gets to do anything. By the end of the series, Kintaro has managed to create a harem that all help him out at the end. I would highly recommend checking this out.

#6 One Piece

So this one definitely holds a special place in my heart. I didn't really watch much of it on Toonami as a kid but when Toonami came back in 2013, I began to watch it and I fell in love with the show and Manga. 10th grade was probably one of the more bleaker parts of my life and I wish I could forget that time period but One Piece helped me get through it. It taught me a valuable lesson of finding your Nakama or Comrades. Finding friends who you can call family. At that time I didn't tell my parents about what was going on and I just decided to bottle everything up without any release and everything felt dark but One Piece was what helped me see the light. It was thanks to this show that I was able to have the friends that I have now. They are my comrades, my Nakama and its all thanks to One Piece.

#5 Blend S

So you know how there are those shows that you wouldn't be caught dead watching, well this is one of them. I discovered this show through a certain meme ( you know the one) and decided well since I keep seeing it all over the internet, I might as well go check it out. I watched the first episode and then the next thing I knew, it was 2 in the morning and I was on the last episode. This show is what weebs call a moe comedy. From what I've learned in my experiences with weebs moe refers to cuteness and boy is this show adorable. Each character has their own distinct personality and they are all just a joy to watch as they get into wacky situations. Plus I would love to visit that cafe one day.

#4 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Call me a mainstream normie if you want but this show is amazing. I have re watched it at least 5 times within the last year and every time I watch it I am just blown away. The show has some amazing fights, well developed characters, amazing locations, and the plot is just the icing on the cake. Without this show we wouldn't even have the greatest waifu of  all time: Roy Mustang

I mean look at this man.

 #3 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Now this show is something else. I started watching it back in 2016 and I was kind of into it but stopped after part 2. Recently my friends got me to get back on it and I began watching part 3. Once I started watching part 3, I became a full fledged JoJo fan. I loved part 3 and immediately started part 4 which was 10 times better than part 3. I love everything about JJBA. I love the idea of large burly men striking flamboyant poses in parts 1-3 and the concept of hamon and stands. It just kinda draws you in with something for everyone to enjoy. Like action watch JoJo, like comedy watch JoJo, like intriguing concepts watch JoJo. With the announcement of part 4's english dub and part 5's anime release there is now more reason then ever to watch JoJo.

#2 Naruto and Dragonball Z

Both of these shows served as the backbone of my childhood. I grew up watching Goku defeat Frieza, Naruto facing off against Neji in the Chunin exams, Gohan avenging his father and destroying Cell, Naruto desperately pleading Sasuke to return to the Hidden Leaf, all these moments and more are what made me who I am. It made me incredibly sad when Naruto ended back in 2014 and I was understandably excited when Dragon Ball Super was announced.  Now it was incredibly hard who to put at number 2 and it would do both series a huge disservice if I left either of them out of this list.

#1 Gurren Lagann

Gurren Lagann has been and forever will be my favorite anime of all time. Every time I come back to this show, I end up loving every minute of it. Studio Trigger puts 110% of their efforts into any project they make. The show has a simplistic art style but that doesn't stop it from giving the characters these amazing exaggerated expressions and movements that make the show a hundred times better. Simon is a character that I can relate to. He's young, neurotic, impressionable. He's like a prototype for Deku in MHA but instead of wanting to be like All-Might, he wants to be like Kamina and instead of One-for-All, its Spiral Power. Even though I said this list was not in any particular order, I had to put Gurren Lagann in the number 1 spot.
